Mechatronics

Description:
Mechatronics is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the electromechanical fi eld and/orenrolling into a post-secondary institution. The students are provided with the knowledge and experience in the areas of:

• Safety
• Electrical wiring
• Motor controls
• Electronics
• Robotics
• Fluid power systems
• Programmable logic controllers

Automated manufacturing is now a standard process in most industries. The Electromechanical/Mechatronics program provides a solid foundation in automated manufacturing. 

Students will be taught on training devices which simulates automated production, duplication automated manufacturing where fl uid control, robotic control and electronic control are vital.

Students will be able to enter the industrial sector and perform maintenance, set up, and trouble-shooting with a mentor.

Program completers are prepared to enter the world of work as:

• Automated Manufacturing Technician
• Industrial Maintenance Technician
• Electrical/Electronic Technician
• Mechanical Technician
• Engineering Technician
• Nuclear Plant Technician
• Power Generation Plant Technician

Students may also choose to continue their post-secondary education at Harrisburg Area Community College**,a university, or trade school of their choice.

** HACC and the Franklin County Career and Technology Center have partnered with Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania to offer students in Franklin County the opportunity to
complete both an associate in science degree in Mechatronics and a Bachelor of Science degree in professional studies, Technical Management, right in Franklin County.

Franklin County employers such as TE Connectivity, Target Distribution Center, Volvo Construction, JLG Industries, Letterkenny Army Depot, Martins Pastries, and Manitowoc Crane
have projected openings for family sustaining careers in Mechatronics in Franklin County

Minimum Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in Algebra 1 or successfully completed with a “C” or better
• Reading at grade level

Today at FCCTC
