Career Tech Students and Families:

Thank you for your hard work, cooperation, and understanding as we have worked hard to provide the best possible educational experience during the pandemic.  We have taken these first two months to gauge what is working, what could be improved, and what needs to be changed.  With that in mind, we will be making a major change to our schedule beginning on Wednesday, October 28th.

Starting with October 28th, we will be switching to a fully virtual, Home-Based CTE day each Wednesday going forward.  We would like to share some key ideas about this plan:

  1. 4 of our 6 sending schools are utilizing fully virtual Wednesdays
  2. The plan provides preparation time to ensure quality education for the students participating in Home-Based CTE that week
  3. The plan allows time for communication and assistance for students participating in Home-Based CTE
  4. All FCCTC employees will be working in person at the school to ensure full availability
  5. Each shop will have at least one synchronous activity each Wednesday
  6. The plan allows for collaborative planning time and professional development to ensure each teacher is fully prepared to offer high quality instruction in our current blended schedule (week in person, week in Home-Based CTE)
  7. The plan allows for our custodial staff the opportunity to complete a mid-week deep cleaning of the building

Our partners in Chambersburg Food Service are providing a breakfast/lunch option for Wednesdays.  Each Monday morning, instructors will ask students if they would like to receive a breakfast and lunch for Wednesday.  All students who request a breakfast/lunch will receive it at dismissal on Tuesday afternoon.

Thank you for your continued support of Career Tech.  Our entire staff remains dedicated to providing high quality education to the students of Franklin County in spite of any and all obstacles in our way.  Please continue to observe the self-screening tool each morning as we do our best to keep our school in person and Covid-free.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you,

Justin Sholes
