    • What is Sextortion?
      • It is when someone online threatens to send an image or video of you to other people if you do not pay them or provide more sexual content. It is blackmail.
      • FBI Statement
    • Sextortion is a scam and it is trending.  Typically, boys are extorted for money and girls are extorted for more images, but not true in all cases. You may know the bad actor/criminal, but you most likely do not.  Demands for money are often internationally organized. Most incidents occur on Instagram, Snapchat, and gaming platforms
    • Please contact your instructor, your counselor, or your principal…we will intervene.  Do not wait because a Sextortion threat seems to be time-sensitive. You are not in trouble, you are the victim, it is a crime.
    • Stop the chat.
    • Take screenshots of the text and profile.
    • Block the account and report it to the platform.
    • Report it to a trusted adult and to law enforcement with your guardians.
    • Get support.
    • DO NOT send more images.
    • DO NOT respond to demands or pay.
    • DO NOT enter into further communication.
    • DO NOT think you are alone.

All of the following is Sextortion:

    • “I am being blackmailed online over nude images of me.” (The images may or may not be of you)
    • Anyone threatens to share intimate images or videos of you online.
    • “Need you back on webcam today. U know I know where you go to school. U know what I can send to everyone.” U know I can ruin your life.”
    • “I will send the pic you sent me to your TikTok friend list unless you pay $500 now. Pay me now!”

Are You Career Ready?

  • Career Portfolio

When do I start my portfolio?

You will start building your portfolio in 11th grade with the assistance of your instructor and the classroom assistant.  Some programs find it more valuable to begin in 10th grade.

Why do I create a portfolio?

It is a place to keep all the data that reflects you personally and professionally. You may show portions of the content to a co-op employer, at an interview for a full-time job, and it is yours to take home with you when you graduate.  It also fulfills 339 and Career Education Work Standards for this school and provides artifacts for your sending school as proof of your education.

What is included in your portfolio?

    – Resume
    – Mock Job Application
    – Mock Interview Employer Results
    – Mock Interview Thank You Email

    – Your teacher may direct you to maintain your portfolio digitally, in print, or both ways.

    – After many years of collecting documents in your portfolio, you will be ready to purchase a small thin nice professional portfolio on your own.  Then you can put a few items from your CareerTech portfolios such as your resume, project pictures, certifications, and any other valuable documents.
