CAN I ATTEND MORE THAN ONE PROGRAM?
Typically, students attend only one program because many of the certifications require a three-semester time frame to obtain.

WHAT IF I’M PLACED IN A PROGRAM AND REALIZE IT’S NOT THE RIGHT FIT?
Students may request a transfer to another program, but placement is only possible if space is available. If a transfer isn’t possible, students may choose to withdraw from CT and return to their sending school. All program change requests must be identified within the first week of each semester.
HOW DO I DECLINE MY PLACEMENT OFFER?
Students who wish to decline their placement offer should notify their high school counselor.

STUDENT SELECTION TIMELINE
- September – Applications open for high school students in 9th grade or higher (apply here). *All new students must register for an account first.
- November – Middle and High School Open Houses (follow us on Facebook or Instagram for details)
- January 10 – Application deadline for Round 1 applicants
- February – Student Interviews scheduled by the sending districts high school counselors. Students must have a 2.0 GPA and be passing all core subjects.
- March – Round 2 opens for programs unfilled after Round 1 interviews.
- April - Students are notified of selection decisions via email and are also informed by their counselors.
- May – New Student Orientation for all accepted Semester 1 and 2 students.
- August – Back to school mailing sent to accepted students.
CRITERIA
Applicants must have a 2.0 GPA or above and be passing all core subjects to qualify for admission and be interviewed. Selection is based on grades, attendance, and discipline, as well as an in-person interview evaluation. Interviews are scheduled by the sending school and include staff from the participating school and CareerTech.

STARTING GRADE LEVEL
9th grade students may apply online beginning September 1 and must successfully complete 9th grade before attending CareerTech. Students typically begin attending CareerTech in 10th grade, as the programs span three semesters.
Students who apply in 10th grade are guaranteed placement for two semesters only, one semester as a junior and one as a senior. A third semester may be offered if space is available.

EARNING THE NECESSARY CREDITS FOR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION
Students attend one semester at CareerTech learning trade skills and the other semester at their high school to fulfill academic requirements.

FEES
Students do not pay tuition directly; instead, your school district covers approximately $8,000 per semester for your attendance. This is equivalent to receiving a $24,000 scholarship to support your career goals.
OUT-OF-POCKET COSTS
Students are required to purchase uniforms and some programs require a shop/lab kit.

PRIVATE, CHARTER, AND HOME-SCHOOLED STUDENTS
- Students must be registered in their sending school district during the semesters they attend CareerTech. They may unenroll for the academic semester.
- Students will need to forward a transcript, report card, or evaluation to the sending school counselor prior to the interview.

TRANSPORTATION
- Your school district provides transportation. Please contact your school district with questions about transportation.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- Must be enrolling for 11th or 12th grade.
- Must be able to provide their own transportation to and from job sites.

- Expected to shadow, gain employment, and earn industry certifications.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
- A student who did not get an initial spot at FCCTC due to an excessive number of applicants.
- A student who needs to focus on employability skills.
- A student who wants some guidance with career exploration to find their interests and strengths.
- A student who realizes that high school is coming to an end and just doesn’t know what to do after graduation.
- A student who would like a career in an occupational area not offered at FCCTC.
